Re: Professional sounding fade out.
This is a cut down version of "Adjustable Fade". It loses quite a lot of features but the controls are more descriptive and the minimum gain level may be specified as a percentage. If we want to go for something more like this, the "full" version could be made available on the wi...

Re: Professional sounding fade out.
About the "Adjustable Fade" plug-in. To be most understandable, perhaps you want the name to give some indication of what it "sounds" like? Or (less good), what it is "shaped" like? Or something like "Eq Power for Cross-Fade"? The fade shape is not really idea...

Re: Professional sounding fade out.
Thanks for the comments Gale. To (hopefully) save confusion I'll respond to the comments about the "Adjustable Fade" plug-in in my next post separately from your other comments. For Normalize, there should be little problem with linear 0 to 1. I agree. Normalize could have 2 (linked) text ...

Re: Cannot enable Audacity in pavucontrol
"Help menu > Audio Device Info..." What is listed in there? (the info can be copied and pasted into your reply). I'm not sure, but at the moment it sounds like some other application has grabbed exclusive control of the sound card - old versions of the Flash web browser plug-in used to do ...

Re: Professional sounding fade out.
I've called this plug-in "Adjustable Fade" (think "adjustable spanner" - a tool that can be adjusted to fit the job in hand). It has 5 presets that can fade-in from silence to unity gain or fade-out from unity gain to silence. The presets are: Linear: A linear fade like the stand...
Re: Help!
You have obviously "downloaded" Audacity (from the Internet) because it is on your computer. Do you mean that you can't "start" (launch) Audacity? When exactly does this error occur? Which version of Windows are you using? Has Audacity ever worked on this computer? Have you recen...

Re: Professional sounding fade out.
Can we have consensus about "must have" features?

Re: Professional sounding fade out.
Maybe, but it would probably conveys nothing to many. It could be thought of as a "strong" curve, probably not how you want it to be thought of? Compared to a linear fade, the "square root of linear ramp" fade can be thought of as a "strong" fade in that it is "lo...

Re: In-Place editing
Is there a function that would let me replace/mute the volume on a chunk of sound from time X to time Y, without touching the rest of it? (setq silence-from 1.1) ; time in seconds (setq silence-to 2.2) ;;; silence sound 'sig' from x to y (defun silence (x y sig) (let ((end (snd-length sig ny:all)))...

Re: Only getting one channel
First, check that you are plugged into the computer's "Line In" jack and not "Mic In" jack. Microphone inputs are usually mono and will only record one (the left) channel of a stereo signal. If that is not the problem, check the leads and connections between the tuner and the com...
