Re: Fast forward and rewind within a file

To immediately start play from any position, click on the time line (the ruler at the top). To set the playback position anywhere on the waveform, click on the waveform. If you can't see all of the time line/waveform, zoom out so that you can (see here for help zooming http://manual.audacityteam.org...

Re: Audio Quality Drops With Another Program Open

Your two links are the same, but I think I know what you mean. The problem is simple, but unfortunately the solution is not so clear cut. When the other program is running, your computer is failing to deliver a continuous stream of audio data to the hard drive, so tiny bits of the audio are missing....

Re: Professional sounding fade out.

How can curves that bend this way: firsttrack003.png be clearly distinguished from curves that bend this way: firsttrack004.png Is there no "standard" for the shape description, according to the type of scale being used to view? Not that I know of. The closest thing to a "standard&qu...

Re: Professional sounding fade out.

Is that example wrongly described in the Manual? The Envelope tool fade shape has been described in Audacity parlance as "Logarithmic" for as long as I remember. A couple of examples from the manual: Control points define the end points of a logarithmic curve For a more customizable logar...

Re: Recording directly from casio piano keyboard?

The USB port on the CTK-710 is not an audio connection, it is a MIDI connection. To make an audio connection to the computer you need to connect the headphone output from the keyboard to a Line input on the computer. (see page E14 of the Casio CTK-710 user manual). If your computer does not have a l...

Re: Sound Activated recording minimum duration

That feature is not currently available. There is a feature request logged on the Audacity wiki for: "A post-roll delay (say 4 seconds) would allow realistic recording of dialogue " (http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Feature_Requests) If this would provide the functionality that you requir...

Re: Bug in Audacity 2.0.2: record from stereo mix

Try setting "Stereo Mix" as the default recording device in the Windows Sounds and Audio devices: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer ... ssues#xpcp

Note that if you use Skype, then the default recording device may get changed back when you run Skype.

Re: getting the correct FFmpeg_v0.6.2 fro Audacity for Windo

I wanted to start the recoding at an odd place about 2 minutes and 18 or so seconds and end before it's natural end by ending it at something like 3 minutes and 6 seconds or so. I presume that you mean "start the recording ..." You can set a "selection" (highlighted section) by ...

Chorus Effect

"Chorus" is a popular effect that tends to add a sense of movement and depth to sounds. It is particularly popular with guitarists, but can also be used to good effect for creating ethereal synthesizer sounds, or for thickening or adding character to other instrument of vocal sounds. Stere...

Re: recorded sound low in volume, distorted. Just BAD

I have disabled all sound effects on REALTEK HIDEF microphone which is my only option for recording devices. I have displayed disabled devices/disconnected devices and there are none. Do you mean there are no options other than the microphone input? If so, then you will need to use one of the worka...
