Re: Information passed from Audacity to Nyquist

Just a very quick note as I need to go out shortly.
Audacity does not pass "S" to Nyquist for generate plug-ins, only for process (effects) and analyze plug-ins.

Re: Recording after a click track

If there is a "Selection" then recording will stop when it reaches the end of the selection.
One way to clear the selection and return the cursor to the start of the track is to press the HOME key.

Re: How do you turn off saving an old copy of a file?

Audacity tries to make it difficult for users to accidentally destroy their work. Audacity does not directly work on audio files, it works in "Projects". A project may depend on the existence of audio files outside of the project. Audacity does not allow you to overwrite these "depend...

Re: Transferring Cassette Tape to Windows Media Library

which media player would you upgrade to? On Windows I usually use Foobar2000. It depends what you want though. Yes I think iTunes is resource-hungry bloat-ware, but it does have very extensive library management. It's also convenient if you use an iPod. Foobar2000 on the other hand is much lighter ...

Re: Opening the program

Tonight I will keep the internet running and disable all functions of Norton to narrow that down. Unless you're behind a firewall that may not be such a good idea. If you connect to the internet via a wifi router then that probably provides a firewall (provided that it is enabled). At the very leas...

Re: Crashing when opening file from External HD

Try the START command with the /WAIT parameter, e.g. START /WAIT audacity. It will wait for Audacity to finish before giving you a new prompt. Thanks for the tip Ragnar, but sadly Gale is correct with his second point "There is little useful program debugging in Windows unless you run the prog...

Re: Distortion on recording?

Upgrading to the latest version of Audacity is unlikely to fix this because it is not an Audacity issue, however it is worth updating to the latest version as it is the best version so far. You can get it here (currently version 2.0.2) http://audacityteam.org/download/windows I assume that you have ...

Re: Suggestion: open multiple audio files

Just to mention: the old ReZound used to have a list of opened audio projects at the top of the main window: I can already see which projects are open by looking in the Desktop Taskbar. I also have the option to hide the Taskbar if I need to maximize the workspace. One window per project allows the...

Re: need to remove silence at end via script

Do you mean the other four I was counting "Trim Track" and "Trim Extend" as one (both the same forum topic). Either way, we have set of related functions: Trim silence from ends of track selection. Trim audio from ends of track selection. Add silence to ends of track selection. ...
