Re: Is it possible to get linking semantics with Audacity?
I don't think Audacity can do much about this situation, frankly, unless it monitors the source file for changes and asks what to do if the aliased source changes. We've looked into this before and it's not easy for us to do. The correct "linking" is for the user to copy the dependent fil...

Re: How To Check An Audio Clips Properties
Gale is suggesting a couple of "feature requests" - things that Audacity could do, but currently doesn't. What I would probably do, (using Audacity's current features), is to place a section of the older (processed) dialogue, into a track below the new (unprocessed) dialogue. Using the tra...

It's difficult to work out exactly what you mean, but I suspect that this article may be relevant: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/au ... jects.html

Re: "Bleeping" out a word
The most simple way to bleep out a word is to select the word then "Generate > Tone" over the top of it. A more tasteful way is to use some sort of effect to make the offensive word unintelligible, such as this "scratch" effect: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=17685...

Re: Distortion Caused by Too Much Mic Gain - Can This Be Rem
The latter option is labor intensive and time-consuming. The best solution would be to re-record the track if possible. Some editing artifact can be ameliorated by attenuating the frequency with the equalizer. Yes there are things that you can do if it's a once in a lifetime recording and you have ...

Re: Setting up Adacity to record DJ mixes
So what cable/s do I need and where do I connect them to my amp & pioneer djm-500 Assuming that your amp has left/right "phono" connectors (RCA connectors http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RCA_connector) you will need a "stereo 'shielded' RCA" cable. And what gets connected to my...

Re: Is it possible to get linking semantics with Audacity?
I sometimes work on very large projects (up to about 50 tracks) - it can get quite tricky, but it can be done. The easiest way is to split the project time-wise. Do the first 10 minutes in one project, the next 10 minutes in the next project and so on. Is that a practical solution? It may not be, bu...

Re: Overdubbing blues
Ideally for overdubbing you would want an interface that is bi-directional. For example, so that you can plug your mic or guitar in AND your headphones. Do either of your USB leads have a headphone output as well as the guitar/mic input?
