Re: Pitch change in Change speed effect
Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift should be glitch free apart from the very end of the selection. It is inevitable with this type of effect that for most settings the waveform will not match up at the end of the selection. To minimise the problem the selection should end at a period of silence or low...

Re: Audacity Record Crash
I am having the same problem with audacity. If you have "the same problem" then you will need the same solution. If you have a different problem then please start a new topic and describe in detail what problem you are having. There is a description here of how to post a question in a way...

Re: Labelling tracks on a live album (cassette to computer)
What about just playing on my computer? Should I record the whole album as one track? The disadvantage of doing that is that you lose the ability to skip from one track to the next. With separate files (one per track) you should be able to set up a "play list" for your media player to pla...

Re: Noise Removal Does Not Work
That means that the noise has a peak level of -70 dB, so it is probably normal "dither" noise. If you can hear that clearly then the level of the normal audio is too low, meaning that you need to have the playback volume turned up loud to be at a "normal" listening level, meaning...

Re: Distortion Caused by Too Much Mic Gain - Can This Be Rem
The loudspeaker / eardrum are not responding to multiple separate streams, but to the combined effect of those frequencies, so they are responding to the waveform (as shown graphically in the track) rather than to the individual frequencies (as shown in the spectrum). In the inner ear, the hair cell...

Re: Audacity 2.0.2 won't start after installation
I've just tried this on a fresh, up to date installation of Ubuntu 12.04 and it works as expected. On launching Audacity from the command line there is a lot of output while Audacity looks for available audio devices: ALSA lib pcm.c:2217:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM cards.pcm.rear ALSA lib pc...

Re: Distortion Caused by Too Much Mic Gain - Can This Be Rem
You're asking difficult questions, but I'll do my best to explain ;) When we talk about a "frequency", we are referring to a simple oscillating "cycle" known as a "sine tone". The "Tone Generator" in the Audacity Generate menu creates "sine tones" by...
