Re: Sound from LP's
Audacity 1.2.6 is obsolete. I would recommend uninstalling it and upgrading to the current Audacity 2.0.2 which you can get here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ You should be able to get reasonable quality through the USB connection. You may find this article useful for achieving better quality: ...

Re: Cassette tape to laptop hardware?
I'm finding the configuration of effects like reverb problematic as I'm used to setting them up in real time. Yes that can be tricky. I find it especially tricky for effects such as Eq, compression, reverb etc. Most of the effects have "Preview" button, which is some help. Because of the ...

It has been that way ever since. As a pro sound engineer you should ha...

Re: New Sounds for Sat Nav systems
Audacity can record, edit and produce the audio, but as with cell-phone ring tones, the usual difficulty is not that part, but converting the audio into the format required by the device and persuading the device to accept the audio. We can help with the audio part, but for the rest you would probab...

Re: Distorted Playback Waveform
The waveforms look strange (the sine tones being flattened and appearing to have a discontinuity at the centre line) because of your track display settings. If you switch the track display setting back to "Waveform" (rather than "Waveform (dB)" I expect that they will look normal...
