Re: Problem with Debian PPA

I think you are missing the "multi-media" repository (not the same as "medibuntu").

Try running:

Code: Select all

apt install debian-multimedia-keyring
and then:

Code: Select all

apt update

Re: Does Audacity 2 allow spacebar play/pause?

Would that make sense to a computer program? You can pause playback, but you can also put Audacity into "pause mode" before you start recording. If Audacity is stopped and you press spacebar, how would Audacity know if you mean Audacity to start Play or if you want to enter Pause mode? Swi...

Re: Problem with Debian PPA

Don't Panic !!! :P "apt" is looking in the locations (sources) that are defined in your "sources list" (the list of available repositories). Have you disabled the Audacity PPA? To open (read only) the sources list: gedit /etc/apt/sources.list If you don't have gedit installed, us...

Re: DC offset tool

I normally do not worry very much about DC offset (quite logigal if you don't see the waveform). Though it would still be important if you recorded with a sound card that had a significant amount of DC offset. DC offset is a common reasons for clicks at edit points. Often one would try to edit at p...

Re: Audio Cassette - Recording

Check in the Windows mixer that the "line in" is enabled for recording, not muted, and the recording level is turned up.

I don't think that you can. As far as I'm aware it is a "default" chain that is supposed to be there.

That one is wrong - The recording input should be "SoundMax HD Audio: Line In" (as in your screenshot).

Re: Taking the audio of webm files

Audacity does not support webm files. You will need to use another program to convert the webm files into a support format (such as WAV).
See here for information about webm support: http://www.webmproject.org/tools/

Re: location of temp files

There are instructions for crash recovery on the wiki: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Crash_Recovery
but also, do yourself a big favour and upgrade to Audacity 2.0.2 as soon as possible. Audacity 1.2.6 is obsolete and no longer supported.
