Re: Running Lame
Lamedrop is good for batch encoding if you have a load of WAV files to convert. Just drag and drop them onto the fish and make yourself a cup of tea (or coffee) while it gets on with the job.

Re: Audio Cassette - Recording
The ruler line at the top indicates time. One way to do it: Click on the track at a convenient point close to the middle of the track. Click the "Zoom to fit project" button so that you can see what you are doing: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/edit_toolbar.html Hold down the shift k...

Re: Professional sounding fade out.
26C In 25f: the difference between the gain and % choices is clearer those who want sliders won't be offended you can "store" an alternative set of values if you don't mind changing the units ... The objections to 26c may be that: we have lost the "linear units" (so it may force...

Re: Adjust the position of an equipment
Import both tracks - this will produce 2 audio tracks in Audacity. If required, trim off any excess silence from the start/end of the tracks. Use the Time Shift tool to drag the second track to the right so that it plays after the first track: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tools_toolbar.html...

Re: Professional sounding fade out.
26B BUT I don't like entering two separate numbers in a single input box (far too wacky for my UI taste) as in the "Low and High" values I think it's OK as an "advanced" option. Having used this option it is definitely quick an convenient (though I agree it's a bit "wacky&q...

Re: Professional sounding fade out.
26A So, here is one possibility, distinguishing "% of original" from both "gains" (I'm not sure about adding "(1=original)" after "linear", as it may confuse with "% of original": The word "gain" on its own means "as a ratio to the in...

Re: Problems with Playback
There are two parts to an Audacity project. There is the audio data (usually in the "_data" folder) and there is an "Audacity Project file" (with a .AUP extension). The AUP file holds the information required to put all of those little data fragments back together. To open the Au...

Re: Professional sounding fade out.
I do like gain as dB because it ties in nicely with other Audacity effects (such as Amplify and Normalize) and it is one of the standard notations, but... The big problem with dB values on sliders is that the sliders in Nyquist plug-ins are linear scale. This means that all of the useful range is sq...

Re: Professional sounding fade out.
It could be made usable for "rank beginners" if we have presets that override all other controls, and those presets are selected to be understandable to said beginners. That would allow us a lot more freedom for designing the more "advanced" features. This image is only to demons...

Re: Mark the different tracks mixed in 1 long file
Once you have the track labelled, use "Export Multiple" to export each track as a separate file. If you prefix the name the tracks with a number (01_track_name, 02_track_name, 03_track_name...) then they will be in alphanumeric order. See here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/export_m...
