I could of course build Audacity myself (Windows 7 64-Bit), but I am somewhat fed up with doing it over and over again. If you've done it once then you've done the hard part. "Almost perfect" is not close enough to be able to "cancel out" the echo. The best that you will be able to do is to use a "Gate" to cut off or reduce the level of the sound when it drops to a set level. This will not reduce the echo that is superimposed over the direct...

I presume that it would be relatively easy for Audacity to include a "null sink" for the returned messages.

You can deselect the current track by pressing the "Enter" key on the computer keyboard.
Please try it - it's much easier to do than to explain.

The 60,000 $ question is if such a pipe could be implemented within XLISP. After a lot of faffing and countless crashing - yes it is possible to use mod-script-pipe from within Nyquist, but you need an external script running to receive the returned messages.
