Re: DC offset trickery

Oops, that shouldn't happen should it? Or should it? What has gone wrong here? This little Nyquist script allows us to see the offset (bias) for each 1/4 of a second of the audio track (mono only). (setq step (round (/ *sound-srate* 4))) ; 1/4 second in samples (force-srate *sound-srate* (snd-avg s...

Re: Fixing inconsistent audio levels.

You could use the Normalize effect to make all of the tracks have the same "peak level". "Peak level" is the level of the highest (or lowest) peak in the waveform. This does not guarantee that they will all sound the same "loudness" but it may be close enough. Try norma...

Re: Purchasing a Microphone

No, but it has a reasonably good reputation and in this price range there is no competition that I'm aware of. For less money you can get a USB Desktop Microphone such as this one from logitech: http://www.logitech.com/assets/16065/16065.png Or you could go for a more expensive USB recording mic. or...

Re: Audacity, OpenSUSE 12.2 and Lexicon Alpha

In a new Audacity session, generate some silence (Generate menu)
Then record a track.

Does that sound good or like it's in a tunnel?

Could you post short sample of the problem, preferably in WAV format.

Re: AGC - Automatic Gain Control

This plugin runs uber slow in Audacity 2.0.2. Chriss Capel's compressor runs at least 10 times faster, and I'm not exagerating. Any idea why? It could be due to the amount of RAM being used. This plug-in loads the entire audio into RAM. If the amount of free RAM gets too low, Windows will start swa...

So maybe the test is ; this must be better for all musics than either fade or cross fade or it is not pro Fair comment. You mean , instead of Fade In becoz cross fade is remooved? No, not because Fade In is removed, Fade In will not be removed. The choice should be based on "because it sounds ...

Re: AGC - Automatic Gain Control

As Nyquist effects are "below the line", would it not be possible to remove Leveller and squeeze in 2 Nyquist effects below the line? I think that guitarists in particular would want a distortion effect with a bit more tonal control than just "how much clipping". We also get a lo...

Try this version.
I've only tested it very briefly, so you are now the chief beta tester for this ;)
