This should not be so. :evil: If one records something with Audacity with the play-at-speed set to 1, it should play back precisely as it sounded originally, without having to apply a speed or sampling rate change, which may introduce sampling errors and distortion in the waveform. Any ideas how to...

A guitar "fuzz" effect is basically just hard clipping. It's not a particularly nice distortion effect and quite limited. It is also better suited to analogue hardware processing as analogue hardware does not run into problems with aliasing. Something more like a "tube overdrive"...

I am not sure why you removed it from v26 In an attempt to simplify the effect for novice users, but it is not acceptable. Too much functionality is lost. The help in the Manual could perhaps use some of those images you posted to explain it, together with an arrow for where the mid fade point is. ...

If you mean "mixing" them into one, that will happen automatically when you "export" ("File menu > Export > Audio" to create a normal audio file). Alternatively you can select the tracks (Ctrl+A to select All) then use "Tracks menu > Mix and Render". Be carefu...

I'm +1 for adding some sort of "distortion" effect in the standard Audacity effect list, but something a bit more useful than just hard clipping.
