Re: Recovering data files
If you know what the original name was, then change it back. If you have not changed the name of the Audacity Project file (the .AUP file with the Audacity icon) then the name of the data folder will be the same as that but with "_data" at the end. For example, if you saved the project as ...

Re: Setting up Adacity to record DJ mixes
- Shut down your computer completely.
- Check that all the connections are good and into the right places.
- Restart the computer.
- Wait for the computer to completely boot up and stabilise.
- Open Audacity.

Re: Sound quality obtained using built-in laptop mic.
Sorry about the lack of response, but I don't think that any of the "forum regulars" make audio books either as professionals or amateurs. I've done a lot of vocal recording, but mostly singing or speech for theatrical productions rather than audio books. I have done some audio book editin...

Re: Setting up Adacity to record DJ mixes
i have followed your suggestion of trying to record & tapping my laptop beside the keyboard & the recording picked this up loud & clear. OK, so that identifies the problem of why unwanted sounds are being recorded - you are currently recording from the laptop microphone and not from the...

Re: Need help recording Windows Sound
You have posted in the Audacity 1.3.x section. Audacity 1.3.x is an old discontinued version - you should upgrade to the current version as soon as possible. I would suggest that you uninstall Audacity 1.3 first, then install 2.0.2 which you can get here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ Onto the p...

Re: Setting up Adacity to record DJ mixes
i seem to be still picking up any sounds as i am recording - breathing sounds, movement sounds- such as getting my next 12" & what i record still sounds tinny & echoey ?? You are probably recording from the laptop's built in microphone and not from the UCA 202. Try tapping your laptop ...

Re: Adjustable Fade
Thanks for your comments (and encouragement) waxcylinder. I share your views about this. However, I do have one final offering for the pot... This is the version that I have been using (and will probably stick with). I have added a version number for clarity (now up to version 30 and I think that is...

Re: bpm calculator
Thanks for the suggestion Robert. I agree that a "calculation helper" for the "Change Speed" and the "Sliding Time Scale/Pitch Shift" tool would be useful, but I'd rather keep this plug-in very simple. Personally I use the "Change Tempo" effect as a "calc...

Re: need help from a pro
Cheating Yes :D There's nothing wrong with cheating in art or music. I didn't have time to write up details last night - the typing would have taken considerably longer than making the loop. As everyone has said, the sample is a bit too short to easily make a 2 phrase loop so I looped just one phra...
