Re: Adjustable Fade
I can see Steve's POV here; the trouble is that without a complete fade to zero (or from zero) then the fade is not really a fade-out (or fade-in). The thing that swung it for me was when I was using it and chose "Fade In" when I actually wanted to fade "down". The example that ...

Re: Distortion effects
As Robert wrote, "inharmonic" means "not belonging to the harmonic series. The term "inharmonic" is sometime loosely used to refer to odd harmonics as opposed to even harmonics but that is not strictly accurate. I believe this usage comes from "inharmonic distortion&quo...

Re: Tools Menu
I'm a bit cautious about loading too many "features" on what a "tools" type Audacity plug-in should be. I would argue that the simple classification would be that: If the plug-in returns audio that is derived from one or more existing audio tracks, (ie. the audio is processed and...

Re: need help from a pro
steve whats a flac file? FLAC is an audio format. It is a "lossless" format (no loss of sound quality, just as good as WAV) but is about half the size of a WAV file. Audacity can open FLAC files, either by dragging and dropping the file onto an Audacity project, or "File menu > Impor...

Re: A simple plugin to add a label
If I still have to do fiddly things like that to enter the labels,.... The least fiddly workaround that I can come up with: Using the "generate" type plug-in for creating the label, "Edit menu > Preferences > Keyboard" Select "Generate" as the category, then select you...

Re: How to add recording on certain time after recording
I think I understand. You want the new recording to be inserted in the middle of the first track?
You can't do that without editing.
Record the new track, then cut it, then click where you want to insert it and paste.
Keyboard shortcuts:
Cut: Ctrl+X
Paste: Ctr+V

Re: How to see the details of wav file?
"File menu > Export"
Select "Other uncompressed files" as the file type.
Click on the "Options" button and select "RAW" as the header and whichever "Encoding" it is that you require.
