I am +1 on this new GUI; "look ahead" and "overshoot" work fine for me as long as I also have "center" for Silence Finder. To clarify, what I had in mind was that: Mark Start: (point label) will be set "early" (before the start of the detected sound/silence) ...

I did not have much success with it on a very contrived spoken clip where I had amplified to +2 dB, inverted a few samples in two separate regions, then de-amplified to -6 dB. ESP Clip Fix audibly (and visually) had a little more effect than standard Clip Fix. No it won't work on that. In real case...

There is a new setting in Preferences that you might like to try:
Edit menu > Preferences > Interface > Show track name in waveform display
