Re: start multiple instances
I'll talk to the forces that be and see if they will approve the newer version, They should do. The 1.3.x series were all beta versions and corporate bodies tend to prefer full release versions than beta versions. Often we are working on one file/project, and want to open other files simultaneously...

Re: Fastest way to compile some short segments into a new tr
I could create the label regions, then a plugin could copy the labelled audio segments, fade them all in and out, then trim the gaps down to a specified size. Unfortunately plug-ins are not able to access label tracks. Nyquist plug-ins can create labels, but can't read them. The ability to read lab...

Re: Fastest way to compile some short segments into a new tr
I'm a bit surprised there isn't a plugin to just do the whole operation. Surely cutting and fading segments isn't that uncommon? Feel free to start a new topic about that. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "the whole operation" in a way that "isn't uncommon" but if there's a...

Re: Fastest way to compile some short segments into a new tr
The trick here will be to get the control track right, won't it? Yes. It might be more reliable to do this with a constant generated tone rather than the original track, Yes. I think you've got the idea - do you need me to work through some settings with you or have you got it? Compromise - here's ...

Re: Editing audio file in half
Now, if I did *not* want to delete the first half that I just exported as a separate MP3 how would I return to that 21:45 and then save from there to the end? Tap the right cursor key once to return to the end of the current selection. Shift + End to select from the current position to the end of t...

Re: Editing audio file in half
So, how do I save the section from 21m30sec back to 00 so I can then choose File > Export as to save that first half as its own recording but at the same time not lose my place where I hit Shift/A so I can then return and save from 21m30sec to the end of the recording as a separate recording? We're...

I did think this question myself, but this topic is nearly 4 years old so it's unlikely to still be relevant.forumaliasgar wrote:Why do you want to record it on remote PC?

Re: Fastest way to compile some short segments into a new tr
Could you post one "typical" example of a sound section.
I have an idea how the fades can be done (almost) automatically using the "Auto Duck" effect, but it depends what the sounds are like.

Re: Unable to select any effect
Audacity can only apply effects when "off-line" (not playing, recording or paused).
I presume that you would like to be able to apply effects while paused, so I'll move this post to the "Feature Request" section.
