Re: Re-downloaded audacity and now it records differently
You've probably set Audacity to record from "Stereo Mix". Check the recording input settings in the Device Toolbar and ensure that it is set to record from the actual device that you want to record from, not from Stereo Mix.

Re: Unplugged/re-plugged my mic, now it won't record
Why are we in the "legacy" 1.3.x section of the forum? The current version is 2.0.2 and it is highly recommended to upgrade if you are using an old version. (Download: http://audacityteam.org/download/) Ensure that the microphone is plugged in before you open Audacity, then look in the Dev...

Re: Using Audacity to edit audio within a video...
Can Audacity work with the audio within a video or must I extract it first? Audacity works exclusively with the audio part. If you have FFMpeg installed (http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown) then Audacity can import the audio part from several (but not all...

Re: SACD format
Note that you will not fit much audio onto a CD at 192 kHz 24 bit. Depending on the CD, the capacity will be around 11 minutes. I think that the first thing that you need to do is to find out exactly what formats your player supports, then see which of those your CD/DVD burner supports, then you can...

Re: A few beginners questions about Audacity
Thanks audacityfanboy, I think I understand what you mean. Unfortunately it won't work - or at least, it won't work if the car and the voice occur at the same time. The problem is that where the car and the voice occur at the same time, the recording is not two sounds, it is not "a car sound&qu...

Re: Crash in v2.0.2
Thanks for the report.
I'm very surprised that you find Audacity 1.2.6 more reliable - In Vista and Win 7 it was quite notorious for crashing when the the stop button was pressed.
Would you be interested in investigating the cause of the crash or would you prefer to just keep using Audacity 1.2.6?

Re: Unable to delete dead audio from files
I know there must be a ridiculously simple explanation Perhaps not so simple: "Encoder/decoder overall delay is not defined, which means there is no official provision for gapless playback." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP3#Design_limitations In English this means that the MP3 format does...

Re: Two projects at once
Can I work with 2 projects at the same time? I wouldn't recommend it unless you have two computers. The main problem is that if you press play on the one that is editing, it will grab the sound card and the recording will probably stop, so the recording will be ruined and you will have wasted time ...

Re: Slow track at the end
If you mean that you want it to gradually slow down, try the Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift effect. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/sl ... shift.html
