Re: effects erasing track

I wouldn't really recommend running Audacity in a virtual machine - much better to run the native version on real hardware, but regarding your question, upgrade to Audacity 2.0.2 and also check the location of the Audacity Temp folder is valid and writeable (Edit > Preferences > Directories)

Re: Recording automotive exhaust sounds?

Turn down the recording level so that the exhaust note does not clip, then post a short sample - just a couple of seconds in WAV format will be fine. We can then take it from there, See here for how to post audio samples: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 49&t=64936

Re: Check of the sound selection

I'm still not quite sure of what you are trying to do. To go to a specific point in the track you can just click on the waveform at that position, or you can enter the "Selection Start" in the Selection Toolbar . To play from a specific point without changing the current "selection&qu...

Re: recording bass guitar with a mic to amp echo and delay p

Turn off "Software Playthrough" in the Transport menu.
It is not possible to listen a Logitec USB microphone while recording without an unacceptable delay. To b able to do that with a USB mic, the mic must have a headphone socket built in, but the Logitec mic does not have one.

Try selecting "Rescan Audio Devices" in the Transport menu, then select the USB device as the recording input in the Device Toolbar.

Re: Unable to find "Export as MP3" under file

The videos are probably using an old version of Audacity.

To export:
"File menu > Export" and select the required file format there.

Look in the Windows Sound Control Panel and ensure that there is a recording input that is enabled.

Re: TrimTrack plug-in

I downloaded the file but it's TrimExtend, not Trimtrack, and seems to convert the time to silence (not really cropping it out). What am I missing? This version can make the track (or selection) shorter by removing some audio from the start or end (trimming) or can make the track longer by adding s...

Re: possible to add "trim first minute" to chain?

You can check that one minute really has been chopped off by importing the file back into Audacity.

How do you do that? Are you making an MP3 CD and playing that in your car? If so, perhaps the CD player is having trouble reading the CD.
