You may also be interested in this topic: https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=68&t=114557 Due to the pandemic, there has been a much more interest in on-line collaborations (which I think is a good thing in itself). For reasons that you have already described, there are difficult tech...

Re: Audacity Feature

will it be possible in 3.0 also to export compressed project? Not in 3.0.0, though you can achieve some size reduction (sometimes very substantial) by making a ZIP archive of the AUP3 file. I think you raise a very valid question re. sharing projects, but the old "Compressed Copy of Project&qu...

Re: HELP HOW TO RECOVER AN AUP PROJECT deleted by accident? [SOLVED]

I'm not sure if you can see this, but is there any way you could look at my project and help figure out what went wrong? I had a very similar problem to the writer above and now my audacity project has flat audio files. I still have all of the data saved, though. Please start a new topic (go here a...

Re: Editung direct mp3 without decoding.

FYI - AAC (MP4/M4A) is pretty-much immune to accumulated compression damage. I don't have the link handy but somebody did an experiment with 100 encode-decode cycles. MP3 was badly damaged but AAC wasn't damaged at all. Perhaps it depends on which AAC encoder is used. I've just tested exporting a t...

Perhaps you've enabled "pinned play head", or disabled "Update display while playing". See here: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/timeline.html#pinned Normally, "pinned playhead" should NOT be enabled / selected, and "Update display while playing" SHOULD be...

In the Sound Preferences, what does it say the sample rate and number of channels is?
Is Audacity set up the same?

There is already software for this. It is called "version control". Examples include: Git https://git-scm.com/ subversion (SVN) https://subversion.apache.org/ Concurrent Versions System (CVN) https://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/cvs I've used Git in this way via GitHub and it works very we...

Re: Apple Silicon...

It would be nice to have an M1 native version if only for the speed increase. There is no guarantee that a native M1 version will run any faster. Some native M1 apps will run faster by taking advantage of special features built into the M1 chip, but Audacity has very little hardware specific code. ...
