I have audio I wish to identify the speakers in. "Speaker" as in "loudspeaker" or "public speaker"? It's virtually impossible for a computer program to determine "who" is speaking - perhaps some of the latest experimental AI can make a guess to choose between...

For the 1024-FFT grid lines are shown at frequencies 810 Hz and 9400 Hz, which I don't find useful. This is with Audacity 2.4.2. Note that there is a grid line at 1000 Hz. plot.png 2. Display of the spectrum of left and right channel in different colours overlaid in the same window for Stereo files...

Could my problem be related to this bug Yes that looks likely. If so, is a fix likely ? Unfortunately the Audacity developer that knows this stuff best is tied up with a big project for his day job until at least spring 2021. Unless another expert comes along I doubt it will be fixed until he's back.

It's getting late here, and I'll not be around much tomorrow. If you can make a backup copy of the ".aup" and "_data" folder onto your external drive while we try to work out if anything is recoverable, that could be a good idea.

so I upgraded my ICloud Cloud storage is a huge problem for applications like Audacity. Due to synchronization, there is no guarantee that the data on "disk" (virtual) is the same from one minute to the next, but Audacity absolutely needs that guarantee to perform its internal bookkeeping...
