Re: New Guy with an EQ question.

if I had a frequency analysis plot of basically what I was shooting for, wouldn't it be reasonable to think that an algorithm could be applied to the original sound file. Yes that is theoretically possible, but for Audacity that would be a feature request. Some other audio editors do have that feat...

Re: Beginner's question

Don't use Open Office for this. The Nyquist script must use standard ANSII characters and be "plain text". You could use Windows NotePad, but I would highly recommend NotePad++ http://notepad-plus-plus.org/ NotePad++ has automatic parentheses matching and you can enable syntax highlighting...

Re: New Guy with an EQ question.

once I apply the EQ curve, it throws a lot of the file into clipping. Do you folks just apply negative amplification first? If the audio track is in "32-bit float" format, you can apply the negative amplification before or after applying the Eq. If the audio track is in 16 bit or 24 bit f...

Re: Cannot record Stereo Mix

What I'd _really_ want of course is to record Stereo Mix while listening on the headset. What sort of headset? Is it a USB headset or does it plug into the minijack headphone socket on your computer? Stereo Mix records what is playing through the sound card. If you are using USB headphones then you...

Re: Not Enough Disc Space

The CD Burner site indicates that my font has a corruption so I haven't followed up on that yet. I'm not sure what that was - perhaps you were looking at one of the adverts on the web site. As with much free software, their web site is advert supported, so if you are not using an advert blocker, ta...

Re: sometimes when i click a track

There's a lot of bug fixes in 2.x also: Many effects significantly improved, especially Equalization, Noise Removal and Normalize. Vocal Remover now included plus GVerb on Windows and Mac. VAMP analysis plug-ins now supported. Improved label tracks with Sync-Lock Tracks feature in the Tracks Menu. M...

Re: New Guy with an EQ question.

There isn't really a "right" answer to this. To use your analogy, if you apply photoshop auto enhance to a Dali or a Hopper it is likely to look dull, but the same enhancement on a Caravaggio or Rembrandt is likely to look pale and washed out. As a very general rule, the spectrum of the tr...

Re: Click Removal

What does reversing the data stream do that helps click removal? It helps to remove false detections. "Natural" or "musical" sounds may have an abrupt attack (for example a snare drum hit) but are very unlikely to have such an abrupt decay as there is always a tendency for mecha...

Re: Trouble opening MP3 file into Audacity to edit it

Try this as a test:

1) Open Audacity
2) File menu > Save Project As... and save the (empty) project.

Now try importing the chirp.mp3 file.
