Re: Effect Drop-down Menu Arrangement

Each plug-in has a number of lines in the .cfg file. If you remove the line starting with "Vendor=" for any plug-in (or remove the text after the "="), then that plug-in's entry in the Effect menu will begin with "VST:" instead of the vendor name. Well I never knew tha...

Re: Microphone not Recognized

Can you check that the mic and phantom power unit are working by plugging them into something else, for example another computer or a cassette recorder?

Re: Removing hiss from an old TV recording

Do those steps in the order listed? The order is not particularly important in this case. I did it: 1) Stereo to mono 3) Low pass filter 2) High pass filter 4) Notch filter 180 Hz 5)Notch filter 60 Hz. which is basically the order of "what is most bad" about the recording. I don't think t...

Re: Removing hiss from an old TV recording

Given that it's a very old cassette tape, you could try the Effect > Low Pass Filter set to 5000 or 7000. 24dB. Experiment. There's nothing but noise above 4000 Hz, so "Lowpass: 4000Hz 48 dB per octave" will remove a lot of the high end hiss. One more. Effect > Notch Filter at 180. That s...

Re: classical music: adding composers

You could use the "Comments" tag. See if that shows up in your usual media player. As there are many differences in tag support between players, it is sometimes best to use the tag edit feature in your usual music player. As DVDdoug suggested, Mp3Tag is pretty good, but don't expect all of...

Re: Click Removal

I've not used Click Removal very much, but it seems to only attack clicks when they are a lot louder than the average level in that part of the track. So for music that is not very "percussive" it is probably safe to run Click repair on the whole track, but if there are sharp percussive so...

Re: EXPORT LABELS

What I thought I was doing is adding the track label information to the .aud files so that this information would be part of the .wav files and then be available to be extracted. Audacity is able to write metadata (like id3 tags) into WAV files, but Windows Media Player does not support metadata in...
