Re: Why is Audacity not taking input from this device?

Install PulseAudio Volume Control (pavucontrol). Set the recording input in Audacity to "Pulse". Press the record button and then the pause button. Assuming there are no errors at this point, open PulseAudio Volume Control and go to the recording tab. Select the IO4 USB as the input device.

Re: Control number of playbacks

As far as I'm aware there is no way to make a normal audio file play for only a specified number of times. Re: Why is Audacity not taking input from this device?

Ensure that your USB device is connected and working before you open Audacity. Ensure that there are no other audio applications open when you launch Audacity (other audio applications could confuse the issue if they grab exclusive control of your sound card). Ensure that you have no web pages open ...

Re: trouble with exporting

Does the message say why it can't export? What is the full error message? To export in proprietary formats such as WMA you need to install FFMpeg - have you done that? http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#ffdown By the way, WMA (Windows Media Audio) is an odd choic...

Re: Audacity records in-game sounds instead of microphone

Use Fraps to record both the mic and the in-game sound. You will probably need to turn down the volume of the in-game sound so that your mic can be heard.

Re: Adjust endpoints during playback?

A little "trick" that might help: If you have a piece of music and you want to loop a section of it, then the end of the loop must match up with the start of the loop. Checking that these match up can be time consuming because you have to wait for the loop to play all of the way through be...

Re: Static lowering recording quality

Check your recording level http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ: ... 27s#olevel
The problem may be caused by recording too loud.

Re: audacity install on win8

Guess it's your arrogance that made you think I had not looked both in the manual and the FAQs before posting the question? I suggested looking in a specific part of the manual (see the link) because the answer is there. Perhaps I should quote the start of "Step 1": "Step 1: Set up d...
