I was afraid that might happen.
It is very strange that Pulse Audio apparently sees the device but Audacity doesn't.
Are you able to record from the built-in sound card (the Intel) using "Pulse" as the recording input and selecting the internal sound card in pavucontrol?

Re: connection problems with turntable and phono pre-amp
I've just looked up the manual for the Pyle Pro PADRI3 pre-amp and it is disturbingly vague. Like Koz I get the impression that the RCA inputs on the PADR13 are designed for "line level" signals, but the manual does not actually say what signal level is required, it just says "for cas...

Yes please. I don't really have time to develop this as a wiki proposal at the moment, but I think it would be a very useful feature.waxcylinder wrote: in the light of the lack of further discussion woul you like me to archive this on the "Detailed Discussions" section?

Re: How do I turn down headphone volume?
By the way, what's the unbalanced output f For plugging into an unbalanced line input. For example, if you wanted to plug into a keyboard amp ("combo" or "combination amplifier and speaker") then you would probably use the unbalanced line out. So it sounds as if I need a mixing ...

Re: How do I turn down headphone volume?
The unbalanced line output from a "Presonus Tube Pre" is not designed for plugging headphones into.
Ideally you would plug it into a mixing desk and then monitor from the mixing desk headphone output.
How is the pre-amp connected to your computer?

Export from Audacity as a WAV file.
You could copy the WAV file to a USB memory stick to transfer it onto another computer.

Re: convert to another type of file
To create an ordinary audio file from an Audacity project use "File menu > Export".

Re: Why is Audacity not taking input from this device?
From the look of pavucontrol it appears that Audacity is recording, albeit at a low level. Try using the Amplify effect on the recording to see if it really is silence or just a very low volume recording.
