Re: MP3 file size after editing

MP3 encoding is always a trade off between file size and sound quality. The smaller the file size the worse the quality. Use the "Options" button in the Export dialogue screen to select the MP3 format that you want - bigger "kbps" numbers will produce larger files but will do les...

Re: REQ: R1 MF ("Blue box") Tone Generator

For anyone who is interested in helping out by writing this generator,.... There's "helping" and there's "writing". As I'm not employed to do this, I only generally write plug-ins that are of particular interest to me, but I'd be more than happy to help you write a plug-in ;) As...

Re: Saving 24 bit Wav files?

When I tried exporting as FLAC (24 bit) it works fine but when I decompress the Flac the resulting wav is maybe 1/3 smaller than if I did the WAV output. How are you converting the FLAC files back to WAV? Are you sure that you are converting from FLAC to 24 bit WAV and not to 16 bit WAV? 20 minutes...

Re: Amiga low pass filter

Greetings aGGreSSor, good to see you on the forum. The purpose of this filter is probably to remove some of that aliasing which is inherent in the pulse synthesis. Yes, that is what the Wikipedia article says. Accurate reproduction Amiga Filter would require the use of tables individual for each mod...

Re: How do I turn down headphone volume?

Oh, and if I get that Behringer equipment and record in mono, will both left and right headphones give sound? Or will it just come out of one side? If you are monitoring the input (the live microphone) you will hear in just one ear because the sound is only in the left channel (unless you make up a...

I still don't know if you mean that you are not getting sound into the computer or not getting sound out of the computer.

Perhaps this tutorial will help: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/re ... ables.html

Re: Why is Audacity not taking input from this device?

Update: A Google search indicates that this is an ALSA problem. Apparently it has been fixed. I'm looking to see if I can find what you need to do next. Please try the tests that I suggested in the previous post and let me know what happens.

Re: Why is Audacity not taking input from this device?

Thanks, that's all useful, though there is some good and some bad ;) The good news: Both PulseAudio and Audacity appear to be working correctly. The bad news: The iO4 isn't working correctly. We need to try and find out why. It appears to be "nearly" right (but still "wrong"). Wi...

Re: Split Stereo Track

Audacity is free open source software. There is no "paid" version (though donations may be made here: http://audacityteam.org/donate/) The current version is Audacity 2.0.3 and you can download it from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/windows As you are unsure about your current vers...

Re: sound

You will need to give a lot more detail. Do you mean that no sound is coming out of the speakers or that you can't get sound in (recorded in Audacity)? What are you trying to do? What equipment are you using? When did the problem start? As a wild guess, does this answer your question? http://manual....
