Re: First half of project abruptly missing
I recently made a recording in the latest version of audacity for windows which was just over 11 hours long Are you sure it wasn't a little bit longer than that? You're running pretty close to the maximum duration for an Audacity project. The longest project that can be saved and successfully reope...

Re: Why is Audacity not taking input from this device?
Hooray :D Not only did I think a universal plug and play device could be plugged in any time, Normally that is correct, but the IO4 is clearly not quite "Universal plug and play". As we saw in those PulseAudio bug reports, there has been some "hackage" to get the IO4 to work prop...

If it is, have you tried plugging headphones into it? Can you hear the music through your headphones while playing a record?

Re: MP3 192kbps defaults to 128kbps when entering track name
"Sample rate" and MP3 "bit rate" are not the same thing. The most common audio sample rate (as used on audio CDs) is 44100 Hz. This is the default sample rate for Audacity and unless you have a specific need (such as DVD authoring) you are unlikely to need to change that. MP3 for...

Did you install Audacity to the default location, or did you change that to some other location?

Re: Select (extract) songs separately from live recording?
In the same recording that I'm trying to split up, I was sitting in the audience while recording it. So the sound quality is slightly muddled, the bass is a little heavy, and the vocals need some boost. The basic recording is decent - I used an Edirol digital stereo recorder. So - what's the best w...
