Re: How do I filter out sounds over certain amplitude/loudne
That example is so extreme that I would probably run Pop Mute twice. The important thing to remember about Pop Mute is that affects audio that is above the set threshold. You will notice that the threshold setting is in "dB" and has the range of -24 to 0. "0 dB" is when the wavef...

Re: WIP: Enhancing Multichannel / Fix Single Channel Recordi
Giermann should be able to edit his own posts once the forum software recognises that he's a regular user. @Giermann: let me know if this does not happen. For things like "work in progress patches", then yes they can be updated, but if doing so please also make a note that it has been upda...

Re: WIP: Enhancing Multichannel / Fix Single Channel Recordi
It seems I'm not allowed to edit any of my posts (yet), We *much* prefer that people post updates as a new post. In the past it was a very frequent and confusing occurrence for forum users to edit their posts after they had been replied to, making nonsense of the replies (also people posting just e...

Re: How do I filter out sounds over certain amplitude/loudne
If you could post a short audio sample (preferably in WAV format), I'll have a look and see if there are settings that will work for this job. The audio sample only needs to be a couple of seconds - just as long as it illustrates the problem that you are trying to fix. See here for how to post an au...

Re: batch processing - adding an introduction
SoX is likely to be the quickest way to get the immediate job done, but this does come up from time to time so I think it'd be a useful feature. If you get time in the future, drop a line to this forum topic and we'll see what we can do

Re: How to increase FFT resolution?
OK. The second post in thread by Kozikowski was focused on "Plot Spectrum" The post by Koz was about the Spectrogram preferences: Audacity > Preferences > Spectrograms > FFT Window. That's the only setting I know of. Koz" I suspected that this was not what you meant, which is why I a...

Re: fading sound
There's a couple of things here. Firstly, when dealing with signals, full track height (the maximum "valid" signal) is 0dB. All other valid signals are less than this - in other words, signals are measured a "minus dB". A full scale signal is 0dB (peak level = 0 dB). A signal tha...

Re: LADSPA plug-ins for Mac
The "swh-plugins" for Mac were hosted by Ardour, but they don't appear to be available any longer. I'm not sure if they are available from anywhere else. You could try asking on the Ardour forum if the swh plug-ins are still available for Mac http://community.ardour.org/community I'll ask ...

Re: How to increase FFT resolution?
The "Size" parameter in "Analyze/Plot Spectrum" is still restricted to 2^14 samples (Windows version). Could you explain what it means and why the ranges of "window size" in "Preference/Spectrograms" and "size" in "Analyze/Plot Spectrum" a...

Re: Is there a way to reduce peaks other than manually?
So it looks like I should re-install Audacity...? Yes, you need to do that. Will I lose anything (files, projects, plugins) by doing this? Is there an instructions page I can follow that will show me how to uninstall and re-install? As Gale wrote in his previous reply : If you have plug-ins you alr...
