Re: Recording Vocals only in Stereo
I did have a phone call to tech support for my mic (Samson GTrack) and the tech was able to get Audacity to record both channels at once. Was he testing on a Mac computer? On Windows, it depends on the drivers whether or not stereo is available from a mono source. If he was testing on Windows, then...

Re: very loud noise recording with usb microphone
Oh dear, that's not good is it. I'm not sure where that noise is coming from - it's not "typical" microphone noise. Is this the mic? http://www.maplin.co.uk/usb2.0-podcast-vocal-microphone-228548?c=affilwin7018&u=podadv_prosoundmic Do you have the microphone plugged directly into the l...

Re: Recording Vocals only in Stereo
Most microphones are mono, hence the reason why you are getting only a single channel recording. To get a two channel (stereo) track: 1)Record in mono 2) After recording, select the track and make a duplicate copy (I think the Mac shortcut is Command+D, or you can find "Duplicate" in the E...

Re: White noise produced upon export?
Exporting as 16 bit will introduce a tiny bit of "dither" noise. (less than -80 dB rms). This is usually only noticeable if the audio level on the track is far too low, thus requiring very high playback volume. To avoid this completely you can export in 32 bit float format, which allows ex...

Re: Can I add a noise-cancelling-like effect to mp3 file?
There's probably not much improvement that can be made. If the recording is badly distorted it will probably be beyond repair. Recording live concerts is much harder than people generally think. You can reduce the bass using the Equalization effect http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/equalization.h...

Re: How do I search the manual?
Searching for phrases often works well with Google. To search for a phrase rather than separate words, put the phrase in quotes. For example, this search took me straight to the page I was looking for: site:http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/ "Label Tracks" rather than lots of irrelevant hit...

Re: How do I monitor input?
Monitoring the input is device specific. For example, with most USB sound cards you can plug headphones into the sound card and hear the input. For built in sound cards it is necessary to configure the sound card settings so that the input plays through the output (nothing to do with Audacity). Some...

Re: remove welcome to audacity nag screen
Audacity does not have a nag screen. Audacity has a "Welcome" screen which has a "don't show this again" check box at the bottom left corner. If you are getting a nag screen, check in "Help menu > About Audacity" and check that you are actually using Audacity and not so...

Re: Click removal
File menu > Import > Audio Select "click.flac" Click "OK" The file is imported. Double click on the track to select it. The track is now highlighted. Press Spacebar to play I hear a big click near the middle of the track. I very much doubt that click removal will make any impact ...

Re: Click removal
I don't see anything obvious that you are doing wrong, but on the other hand, if clicks are removed on preview then they should also be removed when you apply the effect. I'm not aware of any bugs in this area. Could you perhaps post a short audio sample in WAV or FLAC format (just a few seconds wil...
