Re: Split recordings
Audacity can record any audio that is sent to it. You can then edit the recording any way you like but Audacity cannot edit it automatically.

Re: Alternate, equal-length "Paste" command ("Patch?")
I've been playing with an idea and this can be done with a plug-in as long as you don't require the copied audio to be more than 1 million sample (a bit over 20 seconds at 44.1 kHz). I've got a proof of concept working and will hopefully get a working prototype this evening (it's early morning here ...

Re: Alternate, equal-length "Paste" command ("Patch?")
Yes I can see how that would be useful. I guess it could be called "Paste Into..."
What would happen if the clipboard audio is shorter than the selection? Would it repeat?
I've also replied to your other post.

Re: Easier way to patch with room tone?
Assuming that the "room tone" is very low level, you probably don't need to cross-fade. Assuming that nothing "stands out" in a room tone sample you can probably get away with using the same room tone sample over and over. Starting with one audio track, select a short section of ...

Re: Importing text as audio/exporting audio as text
Just a little update here; I've now got a version that works with stereo data. I'm currently looking at supporting all of the "text" formats that are supported by "Sample Data Export". The CSV format is a bit tricky as the comma character has special meanings in Nyquist, so I'll ...

Re: Tiny dropout "crackling" repair?
One of my first attempts at modifying a Nyquist plug-in was a modification to "ClipFix". The modified version of ClipFix may be useful here, though I don't expect it to work with all of those inversions. See here for the modified ClipFix http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=31433#...

Re: ReplayGain
Hi Uli, Is there any advantage working this way ("one track at a time") compared to mark all tracks and to gain all at one time? If all of the tracks are the same duration, then you can select them all together, but that will rarely be the case. Nyquist plug-ins see no difference between &...

Re: notch filter effect
Koz is correct that Notch filter is included in the current version of Audacity (2.0.3). Audacity comes with a selection of "built-in" effects and a few "plug-in" effects. The Notch filter is a "plug-in" effect. Built-in effects all appear at the top of the Effect menu ...

Re: Convert to MP3
To export from Audacity as MP3 you need "LAME".

Re: very loud noise recording with usb microphone
Could you post a short sample, similar to your first audio sample, with the laptop running on batteries (power supply completely disconnected). Just a few seconds is fine, but preferably in WAV format. I'd like to take a close look at the remaining noise. I haven't got another computer but can try t...
