Re: Distortion only when using Software Playthrough?
Setting the Audacity bit-rate to 32-bit float will not cause a problem as that only affects the format in Audacity (sound cards don't do 32 bit float so the sound card will just deliver in a standard supported format). You could try 44100 Hz and see if that makes an improvement. Problems are common ...

Re: Audacity MP3 Export iTunes Settings
When you go to export, select MP3 as the file format, then click on the "Options" button.

Re: Distortion only when using Software Playthrough?
The problem is not "clipping" it's "skipping". You can see it clearly in the "spectrogram" track view as vertical lines each time a bit of data is dropped: firsttrack000.png When playing back at the same time as recording, there is twice as much data, but not only that,...

Re: Audacity MP3 Export iTunes Settings
Try using "VBR quality 9". If the files are too big you will need to use ABR or CBR because "Quality 9" is the lowest quality that Audacity goes in VBR. Ensure that your recording is mono before you export. To export from Audacity in MP3 you will need to install LAME. See here: h...

Re: Changed behavior of graphic equalization in 2.0.3
It looks to me like a bug has crept in between Audacity 2.0.2 and 2.0.3. I'm seeing some peculiar behaviour where the Eq curves are recalculated when switching between "graphic" and "draw curves" modes. An easy way to reproduce the issue (tested on Linux and Windows XP): 1) Open ...

Re: Types of MP3?
One of the problems with changing the encoding of an MP3 (or any other editing or processing of MP3 files in Audacity) is that when the MP3 is re-encoded there will be some loss of sound quality (this is in addition to the loss of sound quality due to the original MP3 encoding). To minimise the qual...

Re: W Media player is not importing
Audacity 2.0.3 can be installed over the top of Audacity 2.02 (without uninstalling 2.0.2 first). In effect this will update 2.0.2 to 2.0.3.
You may need to tell Windows Media Player to rescan or update its library.

Re: Muddy Sound When Recording In Audacity
I've searched through other forum topics and found a number of issues that specify "Beats Audio". Most of these also specify HP laptop computers. A couple also specify HP dv6-xxxx models. Unfortunately only one of those users wrote back to say if the issue was fixed. For what it's worth, t...

You probably have playback paused rather than stopped. Try clicking the Stop button.

Re: editing an .aup file VS .mp3
Not a silly question ;) does the exported aup edited file, to mp3 file, cause any unnecessary conversion issues or problems compromising the quality etc Splitting this question into three: 1) does the exported aup edited file.... The ".aup" file is only one part of an Audacity project. An ...
