Re: Audio quality decreases when playing a game
Recording audio and/or video are quite demanding on parts of the system as they involve moving a lot of data around as continuous streams. This is particularly difficult for components such as hard drives and USB devices that only move data in one direction at a time. If there is a bottleneck that r...

Re: Freeze OS not work button reboot

If this is specific to one particular kernel version, are you able to upgrade or downgrade the kernel to a newer or older version?

Re: trouble recording from new widows 8
In order to record sounds that are playing on your computer you need to set Audacity to record from "Stereo Mix", but "Stereo Mix" is on the sound card, not the video card, so it will only record sounds that are playing through the sound card and not sounds that are playing throu...

Re: Poorly written looping wiki - need help looping
Looping is generally thought of as quite an advanced topic. So as not to make the tutorial unmanageably long the tutorial assumes that people using this section of the manual already have a grasp of the basics. I agree that this can be a little awkward for people that are new to Audacity, but the tu...

Re: Query on Microsoft SoundMapper Input/Installation
Microsoft Sound Mapper is a "virtual" input/output. It is like an alias or pseudonym for one of the real sound devices. In the Windows Sound Control Panel you can set one device as the "default". If you then set Audacity to use Microsoft Sound Mapper, Windows will connect Audacit...

Re: Freeze OS not work button reboot
YES file make 20 sec. format .wav Excellent. Does that file play OK? Maybe a problem because of the file? Perhaps. Does Audacity open OK from the Applications menu? If it does: 1) Open Audacity 2) "Generate menu > Tone" and generate a tone. 3) "File menu > Export > Audio" and ex...

Re: MP3 Exports in a Chain
The problem is that 24 kbps is too low for 44100 Hz audio. The files that you are converting have a sample rate of 44100 Hz, so when Audacity imports them the sample rate of the file overrides the default setting in Audacity and sets the project rate to 44100 Hz. Audacity allows files that are impor...

Re: Freeze OS not work button reboot
Audacity 2.0.1 from the Debian repository should work fine (I've tested it myself on Squeeze and it works fine). "arecord" is normally installed as standard on Desktop installations. To use the arecord command: 1) Open a Terminal window ("Applications > Accessories > Terminal" or...
