Re: Query on Microsoft SoundMapper Input/Installation
I can't think of any logical explanation for why Microsoft Sound Mapper should sound better than selecting the same input directly, unless as Gale is suggesting there is a problem with the sound card drivers.

Re: "Cut Preview" improvements, also an "Uncut Preview"
Several visually impaired users have asked for playback commands related to the cursor such as using Cut Preview when there is no selection, and play a certain length from cursor. I can see the sense in the function. I don't see the sense in calling it Cut Preview when no "cutting" is tak...

Re: creative soundblaster card problem
Here's a link to some info on the ADS rdx-150: That is a USB "sound card". I know that it does not look like a "card", but in effect that is what it is. Probably more accurate to describe it as a USB audio I/O device. Ensure that the device is connected to the computer (and reco...

Re: Import Sample Rate
The maximum sample rate supported by "Import Raw" is 100000 Hz (this is hard coded into ImportRaw.cpp). A simple workaround is (as I think you are suggesting) to import with any sample rate (such as 100000 Hz, or even the default 44100 Hz, and then change the sample rate to 131072 in the t...

Re: Record Mic and Computer Sound Simultaneously
I'm wondering why you need to do the mixing live in real time from with sounds playing on the same computer. I know its possible. The Podcast I listen to has multiple guests through skype, intro and outro music, a plethora of soundbytes throughout, plays whatever is on the guys computer, and his gue...

Re: Record Mic and Computer Sound Simultaneously
On a side note, I downloaded a virtual mixer, and it allows me to record multiple channels at once. The only problem with it is, the fast track pro on records in one ear, and thats annoying. Is that giving you a recording with the microphone in one ear and computer sounds in the other ear? If it is...

The +3 v is always on (unless pulled to ground by whatever is plugged into it, such as a mono mini-jack plug).
Th good news is, the input blocks DC, so no DC offset.

Re: Recording 2 things at once/muting channels
Out of interest I have just tested the "mic in" connector of my Acer 5735 laptop (also works as stereo "line in"):
Tip: +3 v
Ring: +3 v
Sleeve: 0 v (chassis ground).
Tip: Left channel hot
Ring: Right channel hot
Sleeve: ground

Re: Mom needs a CD and she's a Newbie, woo hoo
perhaps this really is way out of my league. Is this too difficult a task for a complete novice? No it shouldn't be too difficult, but as a complete novice there will be a lot of things that are unfamiliar. The iTunes library is, in my opinion, quite confusing because the list of songs in the libra...

Re: Input/Output dropdown lists bug
For what it's worth, the "yard and a half" length names are not made up by Audacity, they are abbreviations
of the ALSA device name.
