On the laptop (Soundmax HD integrated audio) there is 2v on the tip, nothing on the ring. Voltage is always between two points, (potential difference), so do you mean that on the Soundmax HD the tip is +2v relative to the sleeve connection and the ring is 0 v relative to the sleeve connection?
