or fix it?Gale Andrews wrote:perhaps this is something you need to address in the documentation when you release it?
Ideally what I would like is a "one size fits all" method of DC offset correction, but achieving that is not easy, particularly if it is to work reasonably quickly in Nyquist,

Re: GUI locked on Apply Chain
I presume that you are on Windows?
If by any chance you are on Linux or Mac, you could just switch to a different work space ("Spaces" on Mac).
Apparently there are third party add-ons for Windows that provide this functionality, such as VirtuaWin.

Re: Preference File Editor
The image is just a quick "sketch" of one possible option. Most operating systems already include an editor that will do the task perfectly well (in Windows it is called NotePad ;)) but we perhaps want a method that is less open to user error (but also less versatile). The code that reads ...

Re: Skips during playback
Are you sure that it is the playback that is skipping and not the recording?
Do you have any older recordings that previously played back OK? If so, do they still play back OK?
(and the usual Windows trick - have you tried rebooting the computer?)

Re: DC offset tool
If instead at step 4 I remove the offset using Effect > Normalize then I can maximise the noise to 0 dB as expected using Amplify or Normalize. Similarly, if you use: Effect > DC offset: Remove offset / Absolute In step 3 you added an "absolute offset" of +0.84, so the best way to remove ...

Re: Audacity doesn't open on Samsung Chromebook running Ubun
You could be waiting a while. I don't think that any of the forum regulars have an ARM computer so we may not be able to help much if at all. Personally, I have no idea if Audacity can run on an ARM processor (but I'd be interested to know if you manage to get it working ;) If you try to run it a se...

If you are on Vista or later, you may need to enable "2 channel Stereo" in the Windows Sound Control Panel . Ensure that Audacity is set to record 2 channels stereo in the Device Toolbar . If you still have problems, please tell us what the make and model number of the USB device is, and w...

Re: Edit the volume of a recorded phone conversation help
When you have downloaded the agc.ny file, put it into the Audacity Plug-ins folder. On Windows computers, this is usually under "Program Files".
Then restart Audacity. The AGC effect should then appear in the Effect menu below the dividing line.

Re: How to record voice
Your microphone does not appear to be enabled in Windows. The only information I found on Google for the RAINBOW RB-708U was one small picture - it appears to show some sort of control widget built into the USB lead - does that have any microphone controls? Is the microphone turned on? Check in the ...
