Re: FFT spectrum graph missing harmonics
hard limiter is not an option in my list of effects. It's a plug-in effect. There are hundreds of plug-ins available for Audacity (http://audacityteam.org/download/plugins) though personally I'd not recommend installing more plug-ins than you need as the Effect menu can quickly become very cluttere...

Re: Best way to Amplify and then Normalize all my MP3 Playli
The Sound check feature on my both of my 5th and 6th gen Ipods does nothing really, You may not be using it correctly. You need to scan the files and save the changes first so that the "Sound Check Level" is added to the file metadata, then when you play the track Sound Check knows how lo...
Re: volume
If you constantly changed the volume of the sound that way, up and down and up and down, you will eventually cause some minor sound damage. Technically that is true, but if the track is "32 bit float" format then you would need to be repeatedly amplifying by hundreds of dB before there wo...

Re: why /var/tmp and not /tmp?
I believe the difference between /var/tmp and /tmp is that files in /var/tmp should exists after reboot. That's correct, and it can be a life saver in the event of a crash. Or be able to configure where to store this? Edit menu > Preferences > Directories http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/direct...

Rewind and Fast Forward are in the Transport Toolbar: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tr ... olbar.html
There are also several other neat tricks for moving around in a track. See here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/pl ... rding.html

Use ReplayGain (or Sound Check if you use an iPlayer). These were designed for the purpose and work quickly and losslessly.mr coolvibe wrote:trying to get my songs to output at louder, closer sounding volume levels

Re: Audacity could be more helpful when paused ...
Clearly people who pause and select some audio they had just heard with the intention of deleting it or applying an effect to it are not intending to play from the cursor or start of the selection, but from the paused playback position. I doubt that that is a safe assumption. When users write to th...

Re: Converting WMA to WAV
It said that file cannot be open because of patent license. When reporting an error message, please quote the exact message. We are often not able to identify the source or cause of an error from an abbreviated description. Audacity is able to open "WMA version 2" files if you install ffM...

Re: Old Turntable Suddenly Won't Record Into Audacity
I used the same cable to record from my iPod, and that was crystal clear. Then I used the same cable again to record from a CD player/boombox. There was some dead air before I started recording, but it was fine otherwise. Good - that rules out: Audacity, the laptop sound card (mic input), the opera...

Re: Missing Duplicate Tracks
Is there a file stored somewhere that will contain my track info? Yes, that's the .aup file (Audacity Project file). If there was data missing then there would have been an error message. The absence of an error message would indicate that the project is undamaged, so I can only assume that you did...
