Re: Clipping without maximum audio level?

Clipping can occur anywhere along the signal chain. The "signal chain" is the path from the original sound through to the final recording. If you try recording a Saturn V rocket taking off with a normal microphone, the microphone will be overloaded and no matter how low you turn down the r...

So what exactly happens if you double click on the .AUP file?
You've not moved, renamed, or otherwise changed either the .AUP file or the _data folder have you?

Re: Trouble with mp3 encoding

I went through all of the installation instructions and got the happy "Successfully Installed" message All sounds good so far... "Unable to open target file for writing." You've probably used an invalid file name. Avoid using slashes and colons in file names - I'm not sure if th...

Re: Computer crashed and won't load the recent Audacity proj

Before the crash happened, I had saved it. When you save a project it creates a file with a "AUP" file extension, and a _data folder. For example, if you saved a project and called it "thursday" then it will create a file called "thursday.aup" and a folder called "...

Re: Computer crashed and won't load the recent Audacity proj

"Audacity did not recognize the type of the file 'D:/files/..... .aup'. That's either because you are trying to "import" the .AUP file as if it were an audio file, or the .AUP file is hopelessly damaged. For Audacity Projects you must use "File > Open", or double click on t...

I've only had a brief look and I've not tried it, but this looks like it is exactly what Quant is asking for.

Re: Improving "Clip Fix"

I still think improving Clip Fix should be on the agenda. I agree. Nyquist, because of its rapid development capacity, will be useful for prototyping algorithms. It is likely to be impractically slow for recursive processing of samples, but I think that the specific limitation highlighted by Quant'...

Re: Turning off audio position indicator

It probably won't make much difference, but you can set the counters in the Selection Toolbar to "seconds". This will mean that they are only counting seconds during playback rather than milliseconds or whatever units they may be set at. Information about the Selection Toolbar is in the ma...

Re: Time Shifting Multiple Tracks Together

They will move together if the selection (highlighted area) is over the audio in the tracks AND you start dragging from within the highlighted area. If you start the "click/drag" from part of the audio that is not highlighted, then only that one audio clip will move. You may also find &quo...
