Re: Changing from 2.1.2 to 2.4.2

And will I be able to open old version audacity files in the new one? Yes, that should work. Projects made in any older versions will generally open correctly in any newer version of Audacity. This does not always work the other way round - projects made in newer versions may have features that wer...

Re: Windows 10 latency

The thing that I find surprising is that you didn't have the delay problem on your other computer. Were you using different recording software? The reason that the delay occurs is because there is no physical connection between the microphone input and the headphone output. The sound has to go into ...

If you need to make up for a big difference in levels, try this "Level Speech" plug-in: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Effect_Plug-ins#Level_Speech This is a "Nyquist plug-in". Installation instructions are here: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/installing_effect_ge...

Re: Compressor Question

Audacity's Compressor does not go as "fast" or as "hard" as that.

There are a lot of free VST compressors available.
This is a good site for finding free (and paid) VST effects: https://www.kvraudio.com/

(I'm not able to recommend any as I don't use VST effects)

I was using a 3.5mm wired headset, but maybe I should try Bluetooth, just to see.
Wired headphones are recommended. Bluetooth adds one extra thing to go wrong.

Re: How to Edit Strange Sound on Voice

It's not an echo. It's not a reverb. It is "compression artifacts". It's a side effect of file compression (reduced file size) when using "lossy" compression formats such as MP3. Unfortunately there is no effective remedy. You can create it yourself as an experiment: 1. Start wi...

"Save Project" is for an Audacity project, not an audio file.
For an audio file that will open in other apps, use "Export"
This is not an error message. It is just informing you that "Save Project" is for Audacity project, not for an audio file.

-9999 Unanticipated host error The first thing to check is that Audacity has permission to access the "microphone" (Windows uses the word "microphone" to mean "any recording device"). See: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/turn-on-app-permissions-for-your-mic...

Re: "Amplify" effect

To my ear, the relative amplification factors (using the volume sliders in the two track control panels) are: Organ +4 db and Mellotron strings -2 db for an overall 6 db difference in levels. What is the easiest way to accomplish these two changes in level? (Note: I'm primarily an old school, analo...

How often does the problem occur?
Have you tried rebooting the computer?
