Re: cut preview problem
Cut Preview is designed to preview only the first of multiple selected tracks. I agree that it would be more useful if it previewed a mix of all selected tracks. There's three main options that come to mind: A) Preview the first selected track only (as now). B) Preview a mix of selected tracks. C) P...

Re: Decrease volume by x% (with Amplify)?
How can I decrease the general average volume of the currently loaded *.mp3 by x (e.g. 10%) "Amplitude" and "volume" are not the same thing. A 10% decrease in amplitude seems like it should be quite a lot, but it is actually less than a 1dB change which is a barely audible diffe...

Re: Several MP3's to a unique one
Import the audio files, then use the Time Shift tool to slide the audio of each track (except the first track) to the right, so that they are positioned one after the other, then "File menu > Export". If necessary, use the zoom tools to zoom out so that you can see what you are doing: trac...

Re: Help with M-Audio Fast Track
I'm not sure what GUI Ubuntu are currently using for controlling the sound system, but there will be some sort of "control panel" for sounds - possibly right clicking on a speaker icon and selecting "preferences". You need to find the recording input settings for your system, and...

Re: You can separate a subliminal audio files?
The site from which I purchased the subliminal file is... You would probably do better by asking them directly. If they are genuine they should be happy to answer a customer enquiry. However, looking at some of their products (such as "best sellers: Attract Money in Abundance, The Rules of Att...

Re: Gradual desync introduced with long recordings
All the analysis so far has been with the idea that Goldwave is the standard to which everything is compared, when in fact, both Goldwave and the original file are broken. I think it depends on the definition of "broken". It looks like Goldwave is "borrowing" Apple's own decoder...

Re: Apply Chain ?
The CleanSpeech feature has been retired. It was a "legacy" feature from the old 1.3.x series of Audacity (now obsolete). It is no longer included or supported, so I'm guessing that you are using an old version of Audacity? The current version is 2.0.3 and it is available here: http://auda...

Re: Gradual desync introduced with long recordings
This is my first guess from where Goldwave might be getting the m4a codec. I don't think so - I also have Media Player Classic installed and Goldwave does not open that file. Note to self: When all else fails, look in the manual: (http://www.goldwave.com/faq.php#qtfile) Does GoldWave support mp4, m...

Re: Gradual desync introduced with long recordings
Just looking at Koz's suggestion that it could be due to the difference between NTSC drop frame and non-drop frame. It doesn't work out. If that were the cause, the difference should be about 3.16 seconds, but the error that we're seeing when decoding that file is 1.558 seconds. My best guess as to ...

Re: Recording 2 mics with a mixer vs. a USB audio interface
First, is it possible to record two live stereo tracks simultaneously on audacity? If so how? With appropriate hardware and drivers, yes, but otherwise no. To record two stereo tracks simultaneously you need a "sound card" (audio capture device) that has 4 independent audio capture channe...
