Re: erratic volume

If you are getting a healthy looking signal for most of your 45/78s and none of the albums are overloading (clipping/distorting) then you probably don't need to overly concerned about the absolute level for each record. iTunes has a feature called "Sound Check" that allows the volume level...

Re: Multi Track Recording Sync

and listen to what I am playing with headphones If your headphones are plugged into the computer then you will still probably get the delay from Software Playthrough. If your hardware does not provide "direct monitoring" then the usual workaround (that works) is to listen to the guitar ac...

It should be fine. Virtually all USB microphones support 16 bit at 44100 or 48000 Hz - it's not uncommon for manufacturers to only quote the higher sample rate (so as to appear more impressive in the sales literature ;)).

Please do that. Audaciy 1.2.6 is obsolete and no longer supported.
If you still have problems after upgrading there are other things we could suggest, but you should upgrade in the first instance.

Re: AV linux and audacity temp files directory

I'll try deleting the file and see if that allows it to open. If not, I'll just do a reinstall. Reinstalling is unlikely to make any difference. Removing the audacity.cfg file is the important thing. The audacity.cfg file is not replaced by re-installing. The default audio format is 32 bit float, w...

Re: erratic volume

The volume level on LPs do vary a lot, particularly albums of different genre (for example, 12" singles for DJs are likely to be much louder than other 12" vinyl). Do I need to buy a pre-amp with gain control? What is your current set-up? Note that some USB turntables have a gain control h...

Re: The excellent choice Between: sample formats & Sample Ra

What's the possibility that the 32-float setting will refuse to connect to the USB microphone? "Error while opening sound device"? That's not a problem (tested on Linux and Windows). Portaudio and the sound system should be able to come to an amicable arrangement so that 16 bit audio is a...

Th [X] in the corner of the track should do it.
Ensure that playback is not "Paused", it must be "Stopped" (press the "Stop" button first).

Re: How to import to/from Garage Band

Use WAV files as the common format. In both cases, ensure that all tracks begin at time=0. If necessary, add a little silence to the start of every track to ensure that there is "something" (silence) at the beginning of the track. Use Export Multiple to export the individual tracks. Note t...
