Re: 16-bit vs. 32-bit for even volume levels
would exporting as a 16-bit .wav file act as a sort of compressor No it wouldn't. "16 bit" refers to the file format - it means that there are 16 "bits" (1's and 0's) for each sample (point) along the waveform. Audio CDs use 16 bits per sample and it is considered to be a high q...

Re: Windows 7 problem with minimized audacity
I want to start recording with fraps and audacity at the same time. You will have problems doing that on one machine because both applications will want to talk to the sound card at the same time and the sound card will probably only be able to speak to one of them at a time. The only solution that...

Re: Need help with recording
It's quite easy to see which part of the recording is talking and which part is music - I have labelled this example: tracks000.png To remove the music sections, just select a section that is music, then delete it. Re: Windows 7 problem with minimized audacity
I suspect there is more to your question.
Recording when minimised is not recommended because if you run other software it may interfere with the recording and you will not know that something has gone wrong until you un-minimise Audacity.
What are you trying to do?

Re: Recording is becoming messed up
Ensure that Skype or other voip software is not running (not even in the background). Check your sound system settings in the Windows Sound Control Panel . In particular, check that Windows sounds enhancements are disabled: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ:Recording_-_Troubleshooting#enhanceme...

How are you monitoring? here are your headphones plugged in?ltlal wrote: Yamaha Keyboard DGX305 and Windows 7. Recording method - used earphone jack from keyboard to line in on PC.
Are you playing the keyboard "live", or is the song pre-recorded in the keyboard?

Re: Song Editing without Music generated by Musical Instrume
You are leaping ahead of current technology. "un-mixing" a track to separate out different sound sources (vocal or instrument) is difficult and often impossible. As this is the basis of your proposal I'd suggest you look at the current status of vocal removal/isolation: http://wiki.audacit...

Re: Editing music - End and Begining
The questions remain what's the easiest step-by-by step process of ascertaining what the digital number is for the point where the music begins and then what's he step-by-step process to delete from that spot back to all zeroes? Zoom in so that you can clearly see the start of the music http://manu...
