Re: envelope tool

Yes envelopes can be applied to mono or stereo tracks, but the envelope only applies to one track.

Skype is known to change the sound system settings (without asking).
Another possibility is that there may have been a Windows update that changed the sound card drivers and/or settings.

Re: I think the problem is volume, but I'm not sure

Yes your recording level is far too high. Reduce the recording level so that the blue waveform is no more than half the height of the track.

Re: envelope tool

The envelope only acts on the track to which it is applied.
Envelopes cannot currently be copied separately from the audio.
So the only way to apply an envelope to two tracks is to draw two envelopes; one on each track.

Re: Picking up unwanted track recording from Yamaha keyboard

You seem to be doing everything right. What you hear through the speakers should be the same as what is being recorded. Let's drop back one step. 1) Record into Audacity (Accompaniment Track switched off). You are saying that this sounds as expected while recording? 2) Playback what you have recorde...

Re: problem with SAL

I'm not sure that I can comment on the intentions of the code author, so I'll just comment on what I see in the code. (defun fm (p a c-m mod-ratio) (mult a (fmosc p (mult mod-ratio (step-to-hz p) (hzosc (* (step-to-hz p) (recip c-m))))))) Function fm takes 4 parameters, and I'm guessing these are: p...

Re: File length too long?

An easy way to cut into 2 segments:
1) Select the first half of the track, then File menu > Export Selection.
2) Select the second half or the track, then File menu > Export Selection.

Re: Batch Processing Audio

What i am trying to say is that this commands should be easy to understand for a non experienced user. I agree totally, but we get all sorts of users. If we changed the name as you suggest then I would expect to see a lot more guitarists asking how to "daisy-chain" effects. What seems obv...

Re: Batch Processing Audio

The mp3 export command in the edit chains should also be configurable like the other commands. Thanks, I'll add your vote for this feature. And i am requesting the commands in the file menu of Audicity "apply chain" should be renamed to "batch process" and "edit chains"...
