Re: How to actually install FreeVerb on Ubuntu
Ubuntu probably has a GUI application for setting "members and groups", but if not, the command is "usermod"

You will need to use it as "sudo".
Thus if your user name is "brent"

Re: Audacity runs fairly good, work environment acts up
I've noticed (while "extreme testing") that Audacity has a serious problem with Swap. Would it be useful to post something in the Bug Triage board about that? Is it a crash or just unreasonably slow? The only way that I can reproduce the issue is with Nyquist - normally Audacity uses very...

Re: noise measurements
"Smaller the negative number louder the noise". "dB" is a "ratio" that compares one signal level to a reference level. Typically, when talking about "sound pressure", the reference level is defined as the level at which the sound source is at the threshold of...

Re: Focusrite Saphire 14. Can't select correct input
OK, but that's like using an external channel mapper, then? In part yes, but I don't think that it can (for example) be used to set input 2 to channel 1 and input 1 to channel 2. It just selects which inputs are enabled. And if you can choose for example channel 5 and 6 only in the ASIO control pan...

Re: Is ASUS Xonar Essence STX Audacity compatible?
Try setting Audacity to record from the "Sound Mapper" (using the Device Toolbar), then use the Xonar Audio Center to set the input to "Line".

Re: Is ASUS Xonar Essence STX Audacity compatible?
It seems strange that the drivers are not reporting what each of those inputs is.
What inputs are reported in the Windows Sound Control Panel?
