Re: How to layer vocals from one song over audio from anothe
I'm just looking for a way to isolate vocals There is no "magic button" for isolating vocals. There is an article here about removing/isolating vocals: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Vocal_Removal There is also this experimental plug-in from Robert J. H. http://forum.audacityteam.org/v...

Re: au files format specification
As far as I'm aware the .au files are headerless one channel PCM audio. The bit format and sample rate is defined by the .AUP file. Note that the .au files in Audacity projects are "Audacity data files" and not directly related to the " Sun Microsystems " format of the same file ...

Re: batch processing
The effectiveness of Noise removal is highly dependent on how well the "noise profile" matches the actual noise that you want to remove. Unless the noise profile is exactly the same for all of the files in the batch then the effectiveness of Noise Removal will be significantly compromised....

Re: Sound / Silence Marker
I'm still of the opinion that the current effects have the right idea a) a simple Silence Finder b) as complex as you like Sound Finder (and I guess it "could" find silence too)... [snip] ... The proposal here is I think seriously unusable for novices. Your response raises more questions ...

Re: batch processing
3225 and 3441 are close and they sound good compared to each other whereas 3731 is definitely louder, as far as I can tell anyway. As I wrote previously, "loudness" is a complex issue, so whatever automatic method is used there will always be some audio samples that defeat the system. It ...

Re: notch filter effect
I need a broader notch with vertical "sides" (one around 12 KHz, the other around 14 KHz). You can never get absolutely vertical sides, because filters just do not work that way, however you can achieve quite steep sides using this "band stop" plug-in: http://wiki.audacityteam.o...

Re: Adding tags to an mp3 file
If "all" you are doing is changing the id3 tags, don't use Audacity. When Audacity imports an MP3 file (or any other compressed audio format) the file is decoded to uncompressed audio data. Exporting as MP3 reduces the sound quality (always to some extent) and may lead to a different file ...

Re: Reduce Ambuient noise
I'd think that Audacity needs at least two or three seconds of the noise to be suppressed, am I right? Ideally you would want 5 seconds or more of "noise only". The Noise Removal effect can be used with shorter periods of noise for the profile, but with reduced effectiveness. The main pro...

Re: Augmentation latence avec driver ASIO
Just out of interest, why do you need low latency with Audacity?
For most users the amount of latency is irrelevant as long as they have set up latency correction.
