Re: How to layer vocals from one song over audio from anothe
Windows does not know what a .ny file is (it's just a text file containing instructions for "Nyquist" - "Nyquist" is a computer language that is built into Audacity). Instructions for installing Nyquist plug-ins are here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Download_Nyquist_Plug-in...

Re: Tempo Changes Don't Stick
Audacity does not "Save" audio files. The "Save" command (File menu > Save) saves an Audacity Project. Apply the effect in Audacity. Play the track to ensure that it sounds like you want it to, then "Export" (File menu > Export) to create a new audio file. The new (expo...

Re: au files format specification
I hope in a future to have all processing done inside Audacity, but for the time being, some processing must be done using specific software such as Matlab, Scilab or Octave. I find it cumbersome having to export and import audio in whatever format (wav, pcm) to have it available outside the Audaci...

Re: au files format specification
2) Would you please be more specific, providing some example of a transparent processing such as importing and exporting which yields a different result? Audacity works internally in 32 bit float format. By default, when exporting to a lower bit format the output has dither applied. This is usually...

Re: Sound / Silence Marker
That's strange. Nyquist is usually much faster on Windows than on Linux, and it takes less than 5 minutes here.waxcylinder wrote:And the fact that it takes 11 minutes or so to SF analyze a two hour file
Unfortunately I don't think that I can make it faster, though hopefully I can make it more worth the wait.

Re: Starting the sound at the right time
Use the Time Shift tool to drag the audio clips left/right to line them up.
You may find it helpful to zoom in so that you can line up peaks in the tracks visually.
