Re: Measuring a voice
I'm working on a youtube video and basically trying to detect what note a singer is hitting. There's a pitch detection plug-in here that you can try: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=71854 Installation instructions are here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Download_Nyquist_P...

Re: Which is best? Mac or PC version?
Audacity has pretty much the same abilities on all supported platforms.
On a Mac I would recommend using the Mac OS X version. To avoid the possibility of conflicting file paths I'd recommend installing only the Mac version (available here: http://audacityteam.org/download/mac)

Re: notch filter effect
A: Is Audacity even doing the same thing as the program the guy in the video is using? Yes it is. After using Audacity I don't notice as much of a change as when he edited his. He was removing a lower frequency band, so the effect on the music will be more noticeable in his case. B: Is it ok I'm us...

Re: Noise removal for other platforms?
s there any way that the Audacity Noise removal tool could be used in another platform (like Adobe Audition). No there isn't, because it is an integral part of the Audacity code rather than a separate plug-in, but if you use Audition, persevere with the Audition effect (read the manual if necessary...

Re: Tone and beat syncgenerator with customized fields
Hi Mary, I'm not going to be on the forum over the weekend, so I'll check in on Monday. Between now and then, have a look at the following functions in the Nyquist manual , and try and create a "Generator" type plug-in using some or all of these functions. The information necessary to conv...

Re: Not able to record properly from thin client
the version that comes with Windows 7 is supposed to support bi-directional audio So that should provide similar functionality as the scenario that I described for Linux (though it was not available prior to Remote Desktop Version 7.0), but it will still be highly dependent on the access speed of t...

Re: Not able to record properly from thin client
Audacity needs to be installed on "A" with the sound card on "A". There is no real support for local and remote machine relationships. If you get it to work as such, it's as good or bad as it is. It can work (even if not officially supported) if Audacity is installed on "B&...

Audacity can already do that.
Analyze menu > Regular Interval Labels (set the interval to 15 seconds)
File Menu > Export Multiple (based on labels).

Re: How to convert 24-bit 88200Hz to 16-bit 44100Hz
When converting to a lower bit format (less bits per sample) there will be rounding to a near value. That is called "quantize error", and if you don't do anything about it the quantize error produces harmonic distortion. Applying dither prevents the harmonic distortion by randomizing the l...

Re: I need help finding the smallest portable audio recorder
I don't think that you'll get away with one of those thumb drive things - I doubt that the sound quality will be good enough. The Yamaha device is Yamaha's version of the Zoom H1. Other manufacturers do their own versions. They are all about the same size and generally follow the same basic design a...
