Re: External usb sound card internal Conexant Lenovo G580

Try gently tapping the microphone while recording to ensure that you are recording from that microphone and not from somewhere else (I'm not sure what you meant by "not a traditional one"). What sort of "noise" do you hear? Assuming the "noise" is a hiss type noise, try...

Re: How does Audacity read multi-channel WAV files?

Audacity is not smart when reading multi-channel WAV files, and that should be good for you. It simply imports channel 1 as the first track, channel 2 as the second, and so on for the rest of the channels. To help you test, here is a 1 second duration 4 channel WAV file that has the following channe...

You've not said that you've done so, but every time I have come across this issue on Windows has been because a USB audio device has been connected. If this is the case, then the answer is here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... k.html#usb

Re: Audio Files Transcription

Gee thanks. I didn't know it was that expensive. Imagine if you were the person charging for the job rather than the person paying. At, say, 200 spoken words per minute, that would be 12,000 words per hour. At say 600 words per page, that's about 20 pages single spacing, and I presume that it needs...

Re: Audio Files Transcription

We have no idea what you are talking about. Does this have anything to do with Audacity? If so, please explain clearly what you mean.

Re: Codec question

32 kHz refers to the sample rate, not the bit rate.
pcm_u8 is 8 bit not 16 bit.
It may help if you told us what you are actually doing. What are these files for?
