Re: Help nothing is working
The order is important. Plug the USB mic in before you open Audacity. Allow your computer a few moments to recognise the USB device before you launch Audacity.

Re: How to repair AUP file
You should stop using Audacity 1.3 because it is obsolete. The current version of Audacity is 2.0.3 and is available here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ Manually changing the name of an Audacity project is not recommended because it is easy to make a mistake and destroy your project. The safe wa...

Re: How does Audacity read multi-channel WAV files?
The attached picture is what Audacity gave me when I inputted the WAV file you posted. It seems to be the same as you have described each channel. If this shows that Audacity is working as it should be, in your opinion do you think my error lies somewhere in the WAV file before I even input it into...

Re: FFmpeg library is missing
I get the error that the "Critical Nyquist files cannot be found". That's a really strong indication that Audacity is not installed correctly. I'd suggest that you completely remove Audacity from your system, re-download it from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/mac and then carefull...

Re: Overdub Troubleshooting
That looks OK to me on the Audacity side, though you could try setting "host" to "DirectSound". Beyond that I think you need to be looking to the Windows Sound System settings. Sorry I'm no expert on the Windows Sound System (I generally use Linux), but a good place to start is t...

Re: Help nothing is working
No file will be saved... a simple .aud file cannot be saved. You shouldn't be trying to save a ".aud" file. The file extension for an Audacity Project is .aup. When saving an Audacity Project the file extension does not need to be specified, it will be added automatically. An Audacity Pro...

Re: Audio Files Transcription
To be clear, I did not recommend any particular service. I've never used that service - it may be brilliant or they may be scamming cowboys, I've no idea, I've not used them. What I suggested was that you could look on line for transcriptions services - there are hundreds of them. The mostly charge ...

Re: Using VirtualMIDISynth with Audacity
That should be "be sure the Audacity input is "Stereo Mix".jerfilm wrote: I read somewhere to be sure your output is "stereo mix"
If you can't get that going, you could try recording with Sound Leech (currently free).

Re: Audio Cache option missing in Preferences / Directories
The RAM audio cache option that was present in older versions of Audacity was intended only for old or low power machines that were unable to keep up with writing data to disk fast enough. On modern machines overall performance and stability is much better when not using that feature, so it has now ...
