Re: Sound Static on Louder Tones -- How to Solve This?

$70 for a brand new microphone and it was defective out-of-the-box. Plus $10 to ship it back to them... So far I've sunk $80 into a microphone that I haven't even been able to use. Nice. :P If it turns out that the microphone is defective (which is a definite possibility from listening to the sampl...

Re: How much memory does Audacity take up?

Generally it will probably use around 40 to 100 MB of RAM (very little) but some processes may take more. In particular, some (optional) plug-ins may load the full track into RAM and that can be quite a lot of RAM (depending on the length of the track). I'm currently editing a track in Audacity on L...

Re: Unable to delete audio sections

You can use "Edit > Remove Audio or Labels > Delete".
If that option is greyed out, then either you don't have a selection, or you have "paused" playback rather than "stopped" playback. Audacity must be in "stop" mode.

Re: Lost sound

Audacity 1.2.4 has been obsolete for quite a few years and is no longer supported. The current version of Audacity is 2.0.3 and is available here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ What has happened is that you have overwritten the audio data from the project, so you have the "project" but...

Re: Getting the VST Bridge to Find my VST's

The current version of Audacity is 2.0.4. VST bridge was for Audacity 1.2.x and should not be used with the current version of Audacity. Audacity does not support all VSTs. In particular VSTi (VST instruments) are not supported. See here for information about using VST effects with Audacity: http://...

Re: Track is too Fast

If the sound is too fast during the recording, then the problem has nothing to do with settings on the computer. Most probably the tape is slipping through the capstan/pinch wheel inside the cassette player. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tape_transport#Capstan) That could be caused by a build up of ...

Re: Auto-muting/soloing tracks on a podcast

For the gating idea to work properly you need to gate each microphone individually rather than gating the mix. If it is a big table, can you get the microphones closer to the people speaking? If it is a small table, you could try recording with one PZM microphone in the middle of the table. Or perha...
