Re: Monitor Input
and now I get a message that the plug in for converting files to MP3's isn't compatible with 2.x You mean "LAME"? should I reload the old version? Not unless you like using unsupported obsolete software (not recommended) ;) You should update LAME. See here for information about upgrading ...

Re: Your ideal vocal-processing sequence
I change the volumes of particular stanzas by exporting to WAV, altering the volumes in Nero Wave Editor, and then importing back in. This is because it's practically impossible to change the volume of just a few seconds in Audacity without hearing a pop, even if the difference is only, say, 2.5 Tr...

Re: New plug-in effect - PopMute
So here is my noobs' version. But is my description of stereo linking true? Can you use any of the rewrite? Looks good. It's a bit of a shame that we've lost the "usage tips", but with so little space there has to be compromise. Thanks for the suggestion. We had this debate over Steve's A...

Re: Changing frequency
This is a weakness in the effect as shipped in Audacity 2.0.3 (and for quite a long time before).
Audacity 2.0.4 is due to be released very soon and the Change Pitch effect has been much improved

Re: New plug-in effect - PopMute
My 2p's. I think we need a Wiki page accessed by one of your Help buttons for the novices If ifs and ands were pots and pans... ;) This effect is simply a "gate" that is triggered when the amplitude exceeds the threshold level. It's very similar to a "noise gate", but rather tha...

What input devices does your computer have?
Are they enabled in the Windows Sound Control Panel?

Re: Exported Spectrum overwrites existing file.
I am sure that Gayle will find a dozen people who relie on the current append-behaviour... ;) But I guarantee that he'll not find a single user that frequently switches between "append" and "overwrite" (because up 'till now there's been no choice but to append). I'd like to just...

Which would soon become very tedious.Robert J. H. wrote:The drawback is that you have to decide anew, each time an existing spectrum is encountered.

Re: Append Import
I sometimes doubt that sufficient improvements to Nyquist will happen within the next few decades. Tell me about it, :sigh: though most of the limitations do not come from Nyquist itself, but from the primitive interface provided by Audacity. A "full Append Import feature" could certainly...
