Re: Audacity 2.0.4 does not launch on Windows XP
As your question does not directly relate to the topic where you posted it, I have separated into a new topic. In reloading Audacity 2.0.4 I get What do you mean "reloading"? Are you trying to "re-install" or "update"? Please describe in detail what you have done and wh...

Perhaps you are running out of disk space?

Re: Audacity 2.0.4 does not launch
Did you select "Reset Preferences"? That is important or reinstalling will make no difference at all (it may not make a difference if you reset preferences, but it is worth trying).M.Klimek wrote:I reinstalled Audacity Audacity 2.0.4.

Re: Audacity 2.0.4 doesn't launch on XP
By all means test, KeyserS has just done that, and as you suspected, no difference. I wasn't really hopeful myself. (as I understand it) Audacity queries all the devices and all the API's on launch. Audacity won't start until it's completed those polls. OK, I wasn't sure if Audacity queries all dev...

Re: Audacity 2.0.4 doesn't launch on XP
Thanks KeyserS, that helps to dismiss a lot of possibilities.
I'll be interested to hear the results using Audacity 2.0.4 with WDM-KS removed.

Re: Audacity sound problem and Windows 8
Wondershare streaming audio recorder. Hopefully your experience of that software is better than two of the reviews on CNet: Installed some shopping spyware, corrupted Chrome, installed some music toolbar, hi-jacked homepage and search engines, installed software that could not be disabled. Forced t...

Re: 2.0.4 - Changing sound card settings
I've already rolled back to 2.0.3. I can't afford to run a buggy version on this PC. Sorry to here that you are not able to help us to identify and fix the problem, but be assured that we are looking into this to try and determine the case of the problem. Unfortunately on Windows XP SP3 I am unable...

Re: Audacity 2.0.4 doesn't launch on XP
Audacity defaults to MME host, so the above would be identical to NewPrefsInitialized=1 I know that Audacity should default to MME host, but clearly in a few cases on XP Audacity is not doing the expected thing (that is, it does not complete launching), so I wanted to eliminate the possibility of i...

Re: system crash when recording in Audacity 2.01 - debian 7.
Thanks for letting us know, and glad that you are now all up and running, though it's a shame that we don't know precisely what fixed the problem.
By the way, I've recently been trying MATE desktop (with Mint) and I like it
