What sort of Mac do you have?
Which version of Mac OS X?
Where did you download Audacity from? (the official download is here: http://audacityteam.org/download/)

Re: eq

If you play the music on a software player that support VST plug-ins, then there are muli-band compressors available as VST plug-ins.
KVR is a good place to look for what VSTs are available: http://www.kvraudio.com/q.php

Re: eq

A multi-band compressor is able to apply different amounts of compression/limiting according to the frequency that is passing through it, thus a multi-band compressor between the audio source and the EQ section of your equipment can be used to reduce the level of excessive bass so that it is more in...

Re: eq

If it's just the bass end that you're concerned about you could use a multi-band, or side chain compressor in your signal chain (as a "channel insert" effect) to limit the amount of bass before it hits the EQ section.

Re: Nyquist returns value... but why???

What I got when I pressed Debug was "error: unbound function - MULT". This is similar to your original problem. "MULT" is a standard Nyquist function. If MULT is unbound then there's something badly wrong with your Audacity installation because part of it is missing/not found. T...

Your version of Audacity is probably too old.
Try updating to Audacity 2.0.4 http://audacityteam.org/download/

Re: Combining tones trouble

So do you don't there are primary frequencies of sound that make white noise? I presume your questions means, "if you mix primary coloured lights you can get white light, so can you mix "primary coloured sounds" to get "white noise"?" It doesn't quite work like that. T...

Re: Nyquist returns value... but why???

I've gotten an error message saying "Nyquest did not return audio". Try running it again but press the "debug" button instead of the OK button. After the plug-in has completed there will be another window open - this is the "debug window" that may contain information a...
